According to Adriana Williams, this is a preliminary version of a caricature in the Nicolas Muray collection entitled "Tourist saved by Cheap Chinese Labor'' which was published in Vanity Fair, March 1931. This helps to give a date for “Balinese Girl and Hen” of circa 1931.
