Biography of Elena Climent

Elena Climent Preparing Show

We are happy to announce that the next solo exhibition of Elena Climent’s work, Memories of the House of My Father, is now scheduled to be held at Mary-Anne Martin/Fine Art in May-June 1997. This show will include paintings and watercolors thematically connected to the house in Mexico City where she grew up. There she absorbed the influence of the old world surroundings provided by her father, the Spanish exile painter, Enrique Climent. The show combines Elena’s memories of her childhood in that house with the visual record of the house as it exists today. Very little has changed since her father painted in the attic studio. By recording her impressions of these surroundings Elena creates a pictorial scrapbook of her past and the history of her family.
